About me
I was a Professor of History and Women, Gender, & Sexuality Studies at Washington University from 1996 to 2023. While there I found my passion in helping students and colleagues understand exactly what they want to say and how to say it in the clearest, most persuasive, and most powerful terms.
My own research has been focused on gender, sexuality and political culture in the 20th century United States.
I am also interested in local history, oral history, and public history initiatives. I am a founder, co-director and lead writer on Mapping LGBTQ St. Louis, 1945-1992, a digital humanities project.
I have recently retired to New Mexico, where I am looking forward to working with you on your own publishing journey.
